Architecture

Brief: Take intresting shots of buildings or parts thereof in black and white or colour. Start with capturing the structure of the total building. Then start zooming in on interesting detail of the building. Use different angles to create dynamic shots. Don't make it too obvious.
Be very aware of your lighting as poor lighting will result in mediocre shots. You want to create strongly high-lit areas and deep shadows to maximise the sculpyural qualaties of the building. Look for textural contrasts, as well as colour and line to balance pictures.

Portraits
Using your digital camera
, take close up shots of someone's face in black and white or colour. Try to capture the personality and character of the person. It does not need to be a pretty picture, but rather show some soul.

Portraits Project Reflection

The idea of portraits made me think about taking pictures of peoples faces and their story. My project idea was about people whoes faces tells a story and gives you an idea about what they have been through and what kind of person they are.

The difficulity about taking portarit shots is that you can't take them from a distance. You don't have to ask a flower if you can take a photo of it and you don't either have to ask an animal. people are diffrent. This was one huge problem to overcome. My idea was that i was just going to be able to take anyones photo, but it wasn't that easy. Many people didn't want me to take their picture, it was hard for me even just asking someone.

To take a portrait picture you have to get in very close to the subject to be able to see the facial features. This was even harder because not many people want a camera so close to their face and didn't want me to take such personal pictures. Another thing which was weird was that people wanted money from me to take pictures of them.

I went to Town to take these photos and Millnerton market (the Young baby) and i enjoyed this project.

Cover Page

Urban

Flower Seller

This Photo Is A Classic Picture Of A Cape Town Flower Seller, Organizing His Flowers. This Specific Flower Selling Spot Has Been Here For Over One Hundred Years.

Buildings Through The Ages
This photo was taken is Adderley Street of the diffrent buildings, built during diffrent times. The buildings in the front (excluding the middle building) are the oldest, built around 1905. The tall buildin on the left is modern; it was probably built in the 1970s. The crane represents the future building which is to come.

Green Market Square - Building and Market View
This picture is intresting because there is a diffrence between the types of buildings, there are newer modern buildings in the background and older more cultural buildings closer to the market, and the view of Table Mountain adds a third demension of nature's architecture.

The variety types of stall also play a rold of the composition of the picture.
